DICT Super App gets boost from Infinivan

The Super App of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has been amplified with the activation of the 200 GBPS internet connectivity powered by the Japanese firm Infinivan Inc.

The  Connectivity Facility was formally inaugurated on  June 23  at the building of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC)  on Roces Avenue in Quezon City with the presence of   DICT  Secretary  Atty. Ivan John Uy,  CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos,  Infinivan Directors Shigeki Nakahara, and  Koji Miyashita.

In a public and private partnership effort, the Japanese firm in cooperation with the CICC, introduced a proof of concept that is more efficient and secure connectivity. Unlike other DICT connectivity projects costing millions with improper monitoring and are unsecured.

DICT Secretary Uy said that with this new standard, there is maximum utilization of bandwidth. Similarly, proper monitoring allows DICT to provide secure connectivity reducing the risk of hacking and malware attacks on critical infrastructure.

“I was informed that initially this bandwidth will only be provided to those connected to the GOVNET system which is about 900 agencies on the national and the local level. So, with this bandwidth the connectivity issues in many of the government agencies will be resolved and there will be a much more capacity for the government agencies that are connected to the GOVNET system,” DICT Secretary Uy told the press during the activation ceremony.

Infinivan President Nakahara on the other hand said with the visit of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr to Japan recently, they have stepped up their investments into the country by another $200M and introduced a higher standard of connectivity.

“With the much needed guaranteed and reliable connectivity, Infinivan Inc. is honored to serve the technology arm of the country in boosting its capacities and potentials,” Infinivan President Nakahara said in a prepared speech.

“And this partnership lights the way into a better and greater height for the public sector to further promote connectivity and accessibility nationwide, especially the far-flung areas to provide connection like no other,” he added.

CICC Executive Director Ramos said that CICC partnered with Infinivan in order to reduce malware attacks on government infrastructure as part of their cybercrime prevention efforts. He said DICT Super App has to have secure endpoints and this proof of concept sets a new standard for a Critical Infrastructure.

InfiniVAN, Inc. was granted by Congress the franchise to operate as a telecommunication company under R.A. 10898 and an affiliate of Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed IPS, Inc.
